At 83 years old, rock legend Paul Simon is making a return to the stage with the announcement of his “A Quiet Celebration Tour.” The tour is set to include three nights at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis on April 20, 22, and 23. Fans can purchase tickets starting at 10 a.m. on Friday through Ticketmaster.

Following his farewell tour in 2018, where Simon cited the need to spend more time with family and dealt with the loss of his longtime guitarist, Vincent Nguini, the musician is back with a fresh tour. In 2018, he capped off the farewell tour with a sold-out performance at St. Paul’s Xcel Energy Center, delivering a career-spanning set that lasted over two hours.

Since then, Simon has revealed that he has encountered hearing loss in his left ear. In preparation for the upcoming shows, Simon and his team have collaborated with the Stanford Initiative to Cure Hearing Loss to ensure that the performances are optimized for his hearing condition. They have reimagined the entire stage setup to accommodate Simon’s needs.

The “A Quiet Celebration Tour” is expected to feature Simon’s 15th album, “Seven Psalms,” in its entirety. This album, inspired by a dream, consists of a single continuous musical piece divided into seven movements, designed to be listened to as one cohesive unit. His innovative work on this album has earned him a 28th Grammy nomination.

Paul Simon’s career has spanned decades, starting with his breakthrough as one half of the folk rock duo Simon & Garfunkel in the ’60s. Moving on to a successful solo career in the ’70s, Simon has accumulated an impressive collection of accolades, including 16 Grammy Awards. His album “Graceland” from 1986, one of his best-selling records, received Album of the Year honors. Simon’s significant contributions to the music industry led to his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame multiple times, both as part of Simon & Garfunkel in 1990 and as a solo artist in 2001.

Music enthusiasts can look forward to experiencing Paul Simon’s timeless artistry and musical talent during the upcoming “A Quiet Celebration Tour.” It promises to be an intimate and unforgettable event, showcasing the enduring impact of one of music’s most iconic figures.
