Bonnie Raitt, David Byrne among performers at SNL50 Homecoming Concert

The SNL50 Homecoming Concert held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City featured a stellar lineup of iconic musicians such as Bonnie Raitt, David Byrne, and more. The concert was broadcast live on Peacock and showcased unforgettable performances by these legendary artists.

Bonnie Raitt dazzled the audience with her rendition of “Thing Called Love,” accompanied by The Roots. She mesmerized the crowd with her emotional ballad “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” where Coldplay’s Chris Martin made a special appearance on stage. David Byrne made a memorable appearance twice during the event, first collaborating with Arcade Fire and St. Vincent on a cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes,” and later teaming up with Robyn to perform her hit “Dancing on My Own” and the Talking Heads’ classic “This Must Be the Place.”

The concert included several other remarkable highlights that captivated the audience. Cher enthralled everyone by performing her hit “If I Could Turn Back Time” in her trademark black unitard. The B-52s got the audience dancing with their iconic track “Love Shack,” accompanied by SNL cast members Bowen Yang and Sarah Sherman. Nirvana members Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and Pat Smear delighted fans with a rendition of “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” with Post Malone taking the stage as a tribute to the late Kurt Cobain.

Eddie Vedder graced the stage with a heartfelt cover of Tom Petty’s “The Waiting” and paid homage to late SNL cast members Gilda Radner and John Belushi. He transitioned into a performance of Pearl Jam’s “Corduroy” after an infamous incident involving Elvis Costello’s “Less Than Zero.” Vedder also made a surprise appearance during Andy Samberg’s Lonely Island medley, singing Michael Bolton’s part in “Jack Sparrow.” Jack White ended the night on a high note with energetic renditions of Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World” and The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army.”

The star-studded event also featured Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard joining Miley Cyrus for a captivating performance of Queen’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.” Mumford & Sons performed crowd-favorite “I Will Wait” and a heartfelt cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Boxer.” Devo brought their unique sound to the stage with a rendition of “Uncontrollable Urge,” featuring Fred Armisen on drums.
