Ozzy Osbourne and Billy Morrison recently revealed their joint single, “Gods of Rock N Roll,” a reimagined version of Morrison’s 2015 track “Gods,” originally featuring Osbourne. The new rendition of the song includes a 61-piece orchestra and guitar work from Steve Stevens. In a recent interview with Kerrang!, Osbourne reminisced about the track’s long journey to fruition, spanning a decade.

The duo composed “Gods Of Rock N Roll” together in a hotel room during Osbourne’s tour in South America a decade ago. Osbourne noted that the re-recorded rendition now boasts all the grandeur and complexity he envisioned from the start, adding that he urged Morrison for an orchestra and choir accompaniment right from the inception of the song. However, it took a full 10 years for Morrison to heed the advice.

Morrison echoed Osbourne’s sentiment, expressing his excitement in breathing new life into a song they both believed had immense potential. “Gods Of Rock N Roll” was first penned a decade ago in a South American hotel room, and Morrison feels that with this revamped version, they have finally fulfilled the song’s true essence as a compelling ballad.

The freshly released track emerged shortly after Black Sabbath disclosed plans for their forthcoming final show, aptly titled Back To The Beginning. The concert will feature the band’s original lineup, comprising Osbourne on vocals, Tony Iommi on guitar, Geezer Butler on bass, and Bill Ward on drums. Scheduled to unfold at Villa Park in Birmingham, the event holds immense sentimental value for Osbourne, who hails the city as the birthplace of metal. In a statement, Osbourne expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to give back to his hometown alongside cherished colleagues. The event aims to pay homage to the city of Birmingham, dubbing it the true epicenter of metal.

The concert extravaganza will span an entire day and also showcase performances from a plethora of renowned rock and metal figures including Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Alice in Chains, and Gojira. Back To The Beginning is slated to transpire on July 5, promising an unforgettable experience for fans of heavy metal and rock alike.
