“She Loves Me Now (Alternate Mixes)” is VP Records’ recent find from their vast digital audio tape (DAT) collection. Cocoa Tea had previously recorded on the “Real Rock” riddim, but his rendition on Fatis’ version stands out. His smooth vocals harmonize well with the riddim created by Sly & Robbie and the Firehouse Crew at Music Works Studio in Kingston, Jamaica. Originally released in 1993, the track was also featured on Cocoa Tea’s albums Good Life and Tune In for VP Records and Greensleeves Records in 1994.

Scheduled for release on Valentine’s Day 2025, this extended single includes the vocal mix, a discomix, and a dub version with intricate musical elements like hypnotic bells, pitch-shifting delays, and reverberating echoes.

Cocoa Tea is a prominent figure in reggae and dancehall music, renowned for his mesmerizing vocal talent and captivating live performances. Emerging in the early 80s on Kingston’s soundsystems, Cocoa Tea gained recognition working with producer Henry ‘Junjo’ Lawes under the Volcano Sounds label. With a distinctive vocal style, he collaborated with various producers like King Jammy, Gussie Clarke, Phillip ‘Fatis’ Burrell, and Junjo, creating a multitude of hits over the years.
