Boulder musician Gregory Alan Isakov recently released a new music video for his song “Mistakes” from his album “Appaloosa Bones.” Isakov, a Grammy-nominated artist known for his modern folk sound, shared that his eighth album resulted from years of hard work, writing, and creativity that culminated in a collection of soulful tracks. The music video, set against the backdrop of Ireland’s majestic shores, juxtaposes Isakov’s ethereal melodies with the power of crashing waves, creating a striking visual experience.

In addition to his new video, Isakov also announced plans for a summer tour, starting with a series of symphonic collaborations. Teaming up with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra conductor Christopher Dragon, Isakov will be performing in Denver in April, marking the beginning of a nationwide tour that includes stops with orchestras like the Chicago Philharmonic and the L.A. Phil. Despite high demand from fans, tickets for most of his shows, including a residency at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, have already sold out, with only limited availability for his April performance in Denver.

On a different musical note, Boulder-based band The Velveteers is making waves with their upcoming album release. The trio, known for their raw and primal sound, is set to drop their latest record on Valentine’s Day, featuring 13 tracks exploring themes of heartbreak and defiance. The band’s new single “On and On” is accompanied by a visually striking music video, laden with imagery of cutlery and resistance, underscoring their message against misogyny in the music industry.

While The Velveteers have previously toured with iconic bands like Guns N’ Roses and Smashing Pumpkins, they are gearing up for their first headlining tour across the Western U.S. The band will first play some local shows in Colorado, including a sold-out album release performance in Denver and a free in-store appearance in Fort Collins. Despite their rising popularity and critical acclaim, this spring tour will mark a milestone for the band as they take their electrifying energy on the road.

Both Gregory Alan Isakov and The Velveteers represent the vibrant and diverse music scene in Boulder, showcasing the talent and artistry found in Colorado’s rich musical landscape. From Isakov’s introspective ballads to The Velveteers’ high-energy rock anthems, these musicians embody the creativity and passion that define the local music community. As they continue to captivate audiences with their unique sounds and compelling performances, fans eagerly anticipate their upcoming shows and tours. Whether listening to Isakov’s soulful melodies or rocking out to The Velveteers’ electrifying tunes, Boulder’s music scene offers a diverse range of musical experiences for all to enjoy.
