Green Day to have Private Function as Local Support on Australian Tour

Green Day has revealed that Australian punk band Private Function will join them as local support on the Australian portion of their global stadium tour, The Saviors Tour. Private Function has established themselves as one of Australia’s most thrilling live acts, with multiple top ten records and countless international and local performances. AFI, the renowned Californian rockers, will also be making a return to Australia after four years as special guests on this tour.

The Australian leg of The Saviors Tour will kick off on March 1 at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium, followed by shows at Engie Stadium in Sydney on March 3 and CBUS Super Stadium in Gold Coast on March 5. Green Day will be treating fans to full performances of their iconic albums Dookie and American Idiot, as well as tracks from their latest album Saviors and a selection of their greatest hits. This tour serves as a celebration of the 30th anniversary of Dookie and the 20th anniversary of American Idiot, two albums that have left a lasting impact on punk culture.

Green Day, consisting of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool, have been a dominant force in the music industry since their formation in 1986 in Berkeley, CA. With over 75 million records sold worldwide and 10 billion streams, they are one of the best-selling bands of all time. Their breakout album Dookie, released in 1994, achieved Diamond status and revitalized mainstream interest in punk rock. American Idiot, released in 2004, further solidified their status as musical powerhouses and earned them a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album.

In 2020, Green Day released their thirteenth studio album Father of All… to critical acclaim, with Pitchfork describing it as their most vibrant work in years. The band embarked on The Hella Mega Tour in 2021 alongside Fall Out Boy and Weezer, performing to sold-out stadiums across the globe. Their latest album, Saviors, was released in 2024 and features the hit single “The American Dream Is Killing Me.” AFI, known for their electrifying energy and lead singer Davey Havok’s fearless stage presence, are set to deliver an unforgettable performance on this tour.
