EREB ALTOR, the band known for their Epic Viking Metal sound, has returned with their latest album, “Hälsingemörker,” delving into the ancient tales of Scandinavia. Mats, also known as Crister Olsson, shared insights about the new album and their upcoming performance at the Up The Hammers Festival 2025 in Athens, Greece.

Regarding their new album, Mats expressed great satisfaction, considering it their best work yet. The band poured over two years of hard work into creating a record that they are proud to share with the world. With heartfelt dedication, they crafted a heavier vibe on “Hälsingemörker,” setting it apart from their previous releases. The addition of Björn on bass brought fresh energy to Ereb Altor’s sound, following the departure of Mikael.

“Mikael decided to leave almost a year before his passing, leaving a void in the band. Björn seamlessly joined, infusing his professional and dedicated approach into the album,” Mats explained. The album’s cover features “The lady of the forest,” a magical creature from Swedish folklore, embodying the album’s tales of inheritance and modern-day inspirations. Mats draws from Norse mythology and historical events to create compelling lyrics that transport listeners to a world of dark stories and myths.

While selecting tracks for the album, the band carefully curated a track list that flowed seamlessly, saving bonus tracks for the deluxe CD and the 2LP release. The band’s video for “Valkyrian Fate” showcases their dynamic performance style, capturing the essence of Norse mythology in an epic setting at the Sågmur iron ore mine.

Reflecting on their extensive discography, spanning 20 releases over 20 years, Mats credited an endless well of inspiration for their prolific output. The band’s commitment to quality and consistency ensures that each release meets their high standards. The album titles, all single Swedish words since “Nattramn,” convey a succinct yet powerful statement about the music’s essence. “Hälsingemörker,” translating to “Darkness of Hälsingland,” captures the album’s atmospheric and mythical themes.

As EREB ALTOR continues to weave their epic tales through music, their dedication to crafting albums that resonate with both their heritage and contemporary influences remains unwavering. With a blend of historical inspiration and modern storytelling, the band’s latest release stands as a testament to their unwavering commitment to creating music that they are proud to share with the world.
