Northvale to mark new album debut at Debonair Music Hall in Teaneck on Feb. 8
Northvale, a pop-punk band hailing from New Jersey, recently released their first full-length album titled “Where We Go When There’s Nothing Left” on January 29. The band will be celebrating their album release with a show at the Debonair Music Hall in Teaneck on February 8. The lead singer and co-founder of Northvale, Keith Carroll, expressed his sentiment of once being a pop-punk kid and always remaining one deep down. The band’s journey started in 2019 when Carroll reconnected with an old elementary school friend, Mike Piacentini, at a show in New York. Piacentini, initially hesitant due to his busy schedule as a mastering engineer for Sony, eventually agreed to join forces with Carroll after witnessing their excellent collaboration.
A significant development during the pandemic was the addition of Aren Milan as the drummer and Chris Stroz on guitar to the band. Stroz cleverly chose the name “Northvale” for the band by randomly selecting a town name from a list of Jersey towns, reflecting the members’ shared New Jersey roots. Their first EP, “The Things We Used to Be,” released in 2020, featured their first single, “Sleepwalking,” with Joey Fleming from the L.A.-based band In Her Own Words. The band’s approach to creating music during quarantine was unconventional. They worked virtually, sharing demos created in their home studios until they finally played together post-EP release.
This virtual collaboration forced the band members to communicate extensively, aiding in avoiding creative differences that could potentially disrupt the band early on. Their new album features emotionally charged lyrics and catchy melodies, delving into serious subjects such as addiction, mental health struggles, and spirituality. Carroll’s personal experiences form the basis for many of the songs, with guest musicians from other bands featured on three of the album tracks.
The debut show for the new album, set for February 8, will feature a lineup including 5ever, All Systems Go, and Jam Poetry. The band chose a venue close to home for the show to capture that true East Coast camaraderie they value. A documentary titled “Wish You Were Here,” focusing on the album’s recording process, will be released on YouTube on February 5, highlighting the band’s dedication and passion in creating “Where We Go When There’s Nothing Left.”
Northvale’s album is a reflection of their raw and authentic selves, as Carroll describes it as where they go when they have exhausted all else. The band’s journey into the music scene and their commitment to their craft is evident in their music and performances. For more information on Northvale, visit their official website.
