Charley Crockett joins Island Records and reveals upcoming album

Charley Crockett has recently inked a deal with Island Records, marking an exciting new chapter in his musical journey. The news comes alongside the announcement of his upcoming album, ‘Lonesome Drifter,’ set to hit the shelves on March 14th. A first taste of the album will be available on January 31st with the release of the title track as the first single.

Despite being an independent artist with his own label, Son of Davy, Crockett has managed to release an impressive 15 albums in just nine years. ‘Lonesome Drifter’ will be his groundbreaking major label debut. The album was a collaborative effort with Shooter Jennings and was recorded at Los Angeles’ renowned Sunset Sound over a span of 10 days. Hailing from Texas and with a strong influence from his time spent in New Orleans, Crockett has paid homage to the diverse musical styles he absorbed. Crockett credits these experiences for honing his skills in jazz timing, guitar strumming techniques, and chord progression variations beyond simple country and blues styles.

Earning his first Grammy nomination for Best Americana Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards, Charley Crockett’s musical journey showcases his dedication to his craft. Last year, his relentless touring schedule saw him crisscross the U.S., Australia, Canada, and the U.K., performing over 100 shows. The upcoming months will see Crockett back on the road, joining forces with acclaimed artists such as Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Leon Bridges, and Tyler Childers for a series of shows across the U.S.
