Winona Fighter Releases New Single & Music Video “R U Famous” – Check Out The Latest Album!
Winona Fighter is gearing up for the release of their upcoming album, “My Apologies To The Chef,” set to drop on February 14th via Rising Records. The punk rock trio has just released a new single titled “R U Famous,” along with a brand new music video that delivers an aggressive message for social climbers and hangers-on. Frontwoman Coco Kinnon explains that the song is about individuals who take advantage of those trying to make it in the music industry, a situation the band has unfortunately experienced themselves.
The music video for “R U Famous” embraces a Y2K aesthetic, with the band fully leaning into the vibe. Directed by We’re All Gonna Die productions, the video brings to life the Tony Hawk Pro Skater aesthetic that Winona Fighter embodies. The band had a blast embodying Y2K bros for the day, although Coco admits she’s fine with never wearing low-rise pants again.
In addition to “R U Famous,” the album will feature previously released singles like “Attention,” “Swear To God That I’m (FINE),” and “I’m In The Market To Please No One.” Winona Fighter will also be embarking on their headlining Yes, Chef Tour in the US this February and March, followed by dates in the UK in May for Slam Dunk festival.
Hailing from Nashville, Winona Fighter is composed of Coco Kinnon, Dan Fuson, and Austin Luther. The band made waves with their 2022 debut EP, “Father Figure,” and have carried that energy into their debut album. Recorded by Austin at his home studio, “My Apologies To The Chef” captures the raw and cathartic energy of Winona Fighter’s live performances, touching on themes of anger, frustration, and self-affirmation.
Despite the intense emotions conveyed in their music, Winona Fighter also showcases vulnerability and resilience throughout their songs. Tracks like “Johnny’s Dead” address substance abuse, while “I’m In The Market To Please No One” sheds light on dating abuse. The band’s ability to tackle serious topics with a blend of humor, intelligence, and nuance sets them apart in the punk rock scene.
As Winona Fighter gears up for the release of “My Apologies To The Chef” and their upcoming tour dates, the band remains true to their ethos of embracing discomfort and pushing boundaries in their music career. The debut album is a testament to their dedication, passion, and unwavering spirit, setting the stage for Winona Fighter to make a lasting impact in the rock music landscape.
