Snow Storm Chaos: St. Louis Shoppers Desperately Seek Supplies

Long before the big snowstorm hit the area, Bertha Moore of East St. Louis, Illinois, was already making moves in Missouri. She mentioned how she stopped by Globe Drugs near 9th and Broadway in Soulard last Saturday. The family-owned establishment, which has been around for 86 years, was bustling with customers looking for snow supplies. According to Moore, she saw people grabbing bags and bags of salt as soon as she walked in.

The manager of Globe Drugs, Rick Ruzicka, mentioned that business had been brisk since last week when the storm was predicted. Shoppers, eager to clear snow from their streets, have been flocking to the store for shovels, ice scrapers, and rock salt. Moore herself grabbed a 50-pound bag of salt for $8.95 to share with her neighbor and cousin, ensuring everyone had what they needed.

Over at Westlake Ace Hardware in Brentwood, the story was similar. Rick Rossfeld and his team were working hard to keep up with the demand for snow supplies. Rossfeld emphasized the importance of getting supplies quickly, as they were going fast.

For those still in need of shovels, ice scrapers, and rock salt, Moore advised acting fast because winter is far from over. Make sure to get your supplies early to stay prepared for whatever the season throws your way.
