Jasmine Cain releases new ‘VICTORY’ music video – a Slap Shot inspired hit
In 1977, a classic US Hockey movie called ‘Slap Shot’ hit the screens and won the hearts of fans everywhere, especially with the memorable Hanson brothers. Jasmine Cain, a talented rock artist based in Nashville, drew inspiration from this movie to create her latest video, ‘Victory’, just in time for the upcoming sports season. This track is off her new album ‘Attitude is Everything’, also known as AI, which was released in the middle of 2024. AI is her eighth independent album since her debut in 2004 with ‘The Inside’.
The single “Victory” has quickly become a sports arena anthem, adopted by teams like the Nashville Predators, Pittsburgh Steelers, and all Ohio State University sports as their “fight song” for home games. It’s got all the energy and hype you’d expect from a fight song, with foot stomping, hand clapping, and fist pumping from start to finish.
According to Cain, “When we step out on stage, it’s time to make rock n roll history, and that’s exactly what this song is all about.” She goes on to say, “We wanted to pay tribute to ‘Slap Shot’ for a few reasons. We’re big fans of the movie and hockey in general, but beyond that, the folks in Johnstown, PA have always shown us so much love (even jokingly calling me the Mayor of Johnstown), so we wanted to include everyone in this video and celebrate the legacy of ‘Slap Shot’ together.”
The music video features the original car from the movie, driven by Paul Newman himself, and was shot in the original location with the local hockey team, the Johnstown Tomahawks.
