Classic FM is gearing up to launch a brand-new video game music radio series hosted by none other than Minecraft YouTuber DanTDM. The show, titled Next Level with DanTDM, is set to debut on Saturday, January 11th at 9pm and will continue weekly until Easter. In the first episode, DanTDM will dive into iconic soundtracks from games like The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy 7, The Elder Scrolls, and, of course, Minecraft.

Classic FM has a rich history of celebrating video game music, with entries in its Hall of Fame dating back to 2012. The station introduced High Score in 2017, a series hosted by BAFTA-award-winning composer Jessica Curry. Now, they’re turning the spotlight to a younger audience with the addition of Daniel Middleton, known as DanTDM.

With a following of 29 million subscribers and over 20 billion views on his channel, DanTDM is thrilled at the opportunity to host his own radio show. “Teenage me wouldn’t be able to believe I have my own radio show!” he exclaimed. Having a background in music production and a career in video games, DanTDM is excited to bridge the gap between these two worlds on Classic FM.

Classic FM’s managing editor, Philip Noyce, expressed the station’s enthusiasm for welcoming video game music fans to the platform. Over the course of three months, DanTDM will showcase some of the greatest video game music to both loyal listeners and newcomers alike. As an advocate for new forms of classical music, Classic FM sees DanTDM’s series as the next step in their support of video game music.

In addition to his radio gig, DanTDM has also been actively involved in charity work, recently donating gaming carts to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. Fans have been buzzing about the Minecraft film, speculating a potential cameo from the YouTube sensation after he was spotted on set.

The Minecraft film’s second trailer dropped in November, with the full release scheduled for April 4th of this year. It’s an exciting time for both DanTDM and fans of video game music as they prepare to embark on this new journey with Classic FM.
